About Dialogue practice
Our world in crisis suffers from the inability to listen and interact respectfully with others. Any difference of opinion brings about the dynamics of confrontation, argument and the fight to impose one´s point of view over that of others´.
The dialogue we promote is not a simple friendly conversation, nor a debate to defend our already fixed positions; instead, we want to facilitate a kindly drawn up space, to open up to a shared discovery of new points of view. In this way, the Dialogue Circle can be the favorable and protected space for the co-creation of knowledge, for the emergence of collaborative forms of intelligence, and being so, it becomes a highly transforming experience for those taking part in it.
What are Dialogue Circles about?
The meetings begin with a brief and simple existential work to dispose our bodies towards well-being, openness and group interaction, relaxing tensions and making worries lighter. As we sit in circle around a center that focuses our attention, we get ready to favor the positive energies of the meeting, and after a brief presentation of the subject by the special guests – specialists in their fields-, the real dialogue begins and unfolds, taking care to keep a balanced use of the word.
In our meetings we summon not only the mind and the verbal, but also the heart. We use body and meditative techniques, together with some appropriate ritual practices of ancient wisdoms, such as the ritual of the circle, establishing a center and honoring the forces that can come up during the encounter, silence, and also, the reverential use of the word together with some symbolic element, which reminds us of the precious time we have to express ourselves without being interrupted.
We propose making an emphasis on mutual listening, asserting our positions without confrontation, with the aim of achieving reciprocal communication from heart to heart.
